Mutual fund: 60% of investors use SIPs to invest: SEBI Survey Result

About 60% of regular mutual fund  investors use Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) to invest in mutual funds, market regulator SEBU  Survey revealed. The survey, called SEBI Investors Survey (SIS), 2015, highlights many important findings in the mutual funds space. 
According to the survey, due to the ease of investing in mutual funds through SIPs along with the diversification benefits, most investors prefer MFs to equities or /  bonds. 

Additionally, the publicity of SIPs and the mutual fund industry over the past ten years has seen an enormous increase. 

Mutual fund SIP accounts stood 1.31 crore. 
Total amount collected through SIP during a Month was Rs. 4,050 crore

Mutual fund SIP accounts stood at about 1.31 crore as per the latest data (March 2017) by Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), The total amount collected through SIP during February 2017 was Rs. 4,050 crore.

An investor can start an SIP and invest a small amount regularly in an equity mutual fund scheme. The SIP instalment amount could be as small as Rs. 100 / Rs 500 per month. 
SIPs help investors to tackle volatility typically associated with the stock market. It also helps investors to average their purchase cost & maximise returns.
