Chennai Moulivakkam multi storeyed Flats can be structurally strengthened without demolition..

Justice S.Reghupathy Commission appointed by the Government of Tamilnadu concluded (after experts study) that the standing 10 storeyed moulivakkam multistoreyed Flats at Porur, Chenani are to be demolished since the RC columns and some other RC members are not structurally safe.

We are at a loss to understand why the Experts Committee had not considered the option of structural strengthening of RC columns and other members by advanced retrofitting techniques like jocketing & increasing the sizes of existing slender columns, fixing synthetic carbon and glass fibre laminates and steel plates which are 10 times stronger than concrete & also convenient for retrofitting.

We wish to inform that our structural building experts former Engineers of TNPWD have restored some of the distressed buildings at Chennai and elsewhere by adopting modern strengthening measures and they are now serving their utility for more than 10years without any structural deficiency.


We are confident to put the above Chennai moulivakkam multistoreyed Buildings into use by adopting advance strengthening and retrofitting techniques and GOTN must come forward /or  initiate adequate steps to strengthen the above flats rejecting the suggestion of demolition since it is a social waste and further huge financial loss to the concerned.

The formal opening of Aasife Biriyani’s Keelkattalai outlet (fifth outlet in Chennai) turned out to be quite a ‘Biryani lovers’ affair today with The Great Biryani Challenge’, a biryani eating competition open to one and all.

10,257 plus Chicken biriyani enthusiasts above 18 years of age from across the length and breadth of the city and even the outskirts had enrolled themselves for the contest. 20 lucky participants were shortlisted from among the registrations who fought-ate it out for the winner, runner-up and the second runner-up prizes.

At today’s Grand Finale, participants were given 20 minutes to eat as much biryani as they could without spilling.

Damodharan emerged first having consumed 2.2 kgs. of chicken biryani in the stipulated time of 20 minutes. He was awarded with Rs. 10,000 worth gift vouchers. Mahendran Prasath and Nirmal Kirubakaran finished at second and third positions, having consumed 1.9 kgs. and 1.7 kgs. in 20 minutes…they were awarded with gift vouchers worth Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 3,000 respectively.

AC Nielsen Study reveals Yatra has a tie-up with more than 80 percent of hotels in India, one of India’s leading portals in the online travel space has successfully built the largest inventory of stay options in India, covering over 40,144 hotels and other accommodation options across 1109 cities. This wide assortment of accommodation choices allows Yatra to offer a broad range of price points, ranging from budget to luxury. Yatra has expanded across the length and breadth of the country over the past couple of years, covering the remotest of locations in India.

According to a recent study by AC Nielsen covering all online hotel providers, Yatra is leading the 3-star and budget hotels category with nearly 22 per cent market share. The study, conducted in 12 cities across the country, suggests that Yatra has an extensive network with tie-ups with more than 80 percent of hotels in India.
