Government of Telangana to create Industrial Health Clinics, KTR

 August 2016, Hyderabad: CII Telangana organised a one day conference – Man’Exe 2016 focusing on the theme ‘Make in Telangana: Sustainable Growth through Innovation and Future Technologies’, here today.

Mr. K T Rama Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Industries & Commerce, IT, MA&UD, Public Enterprises, Sugar, Mines & Geology, NRI Affairs, Government of Telangana, in his inaugural address highlighted that Government is Telangana is focussed on rapid industrialisation and has been actively creating an enabling ecosystem to facilitate the same.

The Minister mentioned that the Government is setting up Industrial Health Clinics to benefit the process of revival of sick units. “The State is now in talks with Reserve Bank of India to consider lending to revival of sick units as a priority lending area. For this purpose, the State is also looking to set up industrial health clinics that will work on sick units. This would be the first of its kind initiative in the country by a State on the subject”, he said.

Minister also pointed out that, with the objective of making Hyderabad a city with zero industrial pollution, the Government of Telangana is keen to relocate polluting industries of Red and Orange Categories outside Outer Ring Road (ORR). For this purpose, the Government will create the required infrastructure and offer special incentives.
Release of the CII report titled “ Telangana: Gateway to the Future of Manufacturing” by Mr K T Rama Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Industries & Commerce, and IT, Government of Telangana during the Inaugural Session of Man’Exe 2016 organised in Hyderabad on 24 August 2016.
Mr. Rama Rao also touched upon various initiatives which the Government of Telangana has planned to boost the manufacturing sector in the state – NIMZ at Zaheerabad, Dry Port with NIMZ status, Zero discharge state of the art world class pharma city, textile park in Warangal, Medical devices park, plastics city, electronics manufacturing cluster, food processing park, besides many others.

The Minister released the Report – ‘Telangana: Gateway to the Future of Manufacturing’, which was prepared in the context of the conference. The Report was prepared as CII-YES Bank report.

Talking about ease of doing business, the Minister emphasised on the importance of cost of doing business and quality of doing business. 

Mr. Ramesh Datla, Chairman, CII Southern Region & Chairman, Elico Ltd., in his keynote address, talked about the importance of ease of doing business not only for attracting new industries but also to sustain the existing industries. In the context of manufacturing excellence, Mr. Datla mentioned that the Government of India initiative of ‘Make in India’ is critically important. Mr. Datla also briefed about CII’s centres of excellences which works to enhance manufacturing competitiveness.

Mr. R Ravichander, Regional Business Head, South India, YES Bank in his address opined that manufacturing sector is the fulcrum to India’s economic revival plan. Telangana’s efforts to strengthen this initiative by encouraging ‘Make in Telangana’ through the cluster-led developmental model, further complemented by competitive sector policies and innovative initiatives like the TS-iPASS has led to the much needed surge in investments in the state.    

Mr. Debashis Basu, Convenor – CII Telangana Manufacturing Panel & Managing Director, Voith Turbo Pvt. Ltd. during his address set the theme for the conference and briefed about the importance of the conference. He pointed out that Man’Exe 2016 is an important platform for industry leaders from the manufacturing sectors to interact and share ideas & experiences on some of the emerging technologies & sectors that will shape the future of manufacturing.

Earlier in his welcome address, Mr. Nrupender Rao, Chairman, CII Telangana & Chairman, Pennar Industries Ltd endorsed the State Industrial Policy and mentioned that it has an important role to play in the Make in India initiative. “It is expected that the most significant outcome of this approach will be the production of high quality goods at the most competitive price, which will establish ‘Make in Telangana’ as a brand with high global recognition”, he said

Mr. V Rajanna, Vice Chairman, CII Telangana & Vice President & Regional Head, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. delivered his concluding remarks and appreciated the efforts made by the state government for promoting manufacturing.
