What Happened In Indian Share Market, Especially in Equity Mutual Fund Space?

Many investors feared seeing their portfolio coming down, to be precisely from Pongal onwards. Throughout the year in 2017, market has not witnessed even 5% fall at one time, many investors started believing that it should be unidirectional, nearly 10% fall from the beginning of this year is difficult to digest even though their portfolios are still delivering more than 20% CAGR .
What happened to our market, let us get into details. Few of them quotes some of the recent events happened from budget to PNB Scam are the reason; it may or may not be true. When we look at the some data points, we can understand better objectively.
After a very long time, FII pumped more money than DII in the month of January 2018. Rs. 9,568 vs 398 Crore. Many of you felt that Sensex was going up regularly, but your investment was down last month. FII buying predominantly in large cap funds only.
This month, scenario has changed and FII sold till 23rd Rs. -14,842 Crore whereas DIIs bought Rs. 13,760 Crore. This month small and midcap done well compared to the large cap fund.

Between FII and DIIs, FII are more unpredictable, so as far as my reading goes, the volatility will be higher in large cap compared to other caps, going forward!

How to
Respond Investor Now?
As an investor you have 5 to 8% discount, which is still available to you right now. Waiting for another 5 to 10% corrections, may or may not happen.
If it happens, then everyone will talk about another 5%, so you will not invest the money which you have still holding. As long as your term is long term, this timing will never help.
Keep investing your surplus, as long as your investment horizon is 3 plus years from now, without much worrying about the market level are the best way to invest.
These are the investment for long term, so short term volatility should never bother you, and make use of it if you get some money otherwise, enjoy the volatility.
